Car Service Prices in South Africa

What a car service costs, by service type and by car, with upfront quotes.

A minor service starts at R475 labour, an interim service at R550 and a major service at R700. Parts are quoted upfront before any work begins, so a typical major service lands between R1 718 and R2 400 depending on your car.

Pricing for Every Repair, Not Just Services

Brakes, batteries, clutches, diagnostics and everything else is priced the same way: labour quoted on your car, parts quoted before we start, and nothing done without your approval. Pick a category to get a price on the exact job.

What Every Price Includes

  1. Labour, quoted on your carNot a flat rate card. We price the actual job on your make, model and engine.
  2. Parts, quoted before we startYou see the full amount, labour and parts together, and approve it before a spanner is lifted.
  3. 6 month / 6,000 km workmanship warrantyOn every job we do, service or repair. If it is our workmanship, we come back and put it right at no charge.
  4. Service plan and warranty claims handledWe are a Motorite partner and process claims with other major providers, so your plan pays where it should.
  5. A written reportWhat was done, what we found and what can safely wait. Service book stamped where it applies.

Three things move the number: how much oil your engine takes and what specification it needs, how many filters fall due at that interval, and how much labour the job carries on your model. A 1.4 hatchback and a 3.0 diesel are not the same service, which is why we quote on your car rather than publish one price for everyone.

Car Service Price Questions

How much does a car service cost in South Africa?
Labour starts at R475 for a minor service, R550 for an interim and R700 for a major. With parts, a typical major service runs from about R1 718 for a VW Polo to R2 400 for a BMW 3 Series. Your exact price is quoted before any work starts.
What is the cheapest car service you offer?
A minor service at R475 labour is the entry point. A cheap service should still include fresh oil, a new oil filter and a proper safety check — if a quote leaves those out it is not cheaper, it is less work.
How much do repairs like brakes or a battery cost?
Repairs are priced the same way as services: labour quoted on your car, parts quoted upfront. Pick the job from our 156 services and get a price in about two minutes.
Is a mobile car service cheaper than a workshop?
Our overheads are lower because we do not run a workshop floor, and that shows in the labour rate. You also save the day you would otherwise spend dropping the car off and arranging a lift home.
Do prices depend on where I am?
No. Our prices are the same everywhere we operate — Johannesburg, Soweto, Pretoria, Centurion, Cape Town and Durban. You are quoted on your car and the job, never on your postcode.
Are parts included in the price?
No. The R475, R550 and R700 figures are labour. Parts are priced separately and quoted upfront, so you see the full amount before you accept anything.
What is the difference between a minor, interim and major service?
A minor service is oil, oil filter, fluids and the 21-point check. An interim adds air and cabin filters for cars covering high mileage. A major follows your manufacturer schedule for the mileage and adds plugs where due.
Will I know the full price before work starts?
Yes. You get the full quote, labour and parts, before a spanner is lifted. Nothing is done without your approval, and every job carries a 6 month / 6,000 km workmanship warranty.
