  • Is it the drive shaft or the wheel balance?
    Wheel balance vibration usually peaks in a narrow speed band and is felt in the steering. Drive shaft vibration tends to be felt through the floor, is worse under acceleration, and does not disappear when coasting.
  • Can a bent drive shaft be straightened?
    It is not a reliable repair. Shafts are balanced assemblies and straightening rarely restores that balance, so the vibration returns. Replacement is the durable answer.
  • What is the clunk when I pull away?
    Usually excessive play in a worn joint or in the splines where the shaft engages. It can also be a worn engine or gearbox mounting allowing the drivetrain to shift, which is checked at the same time.
