Typical Duration 1.5 hours

We read the soot and ash loading and differential pressure, establish whether cleaning or a forced regeneration is appropriate, carry out the process, then investigate the underlying cause and confirm the system has returned to normal operating values.

The Most Trusted Mobile DPF Cleaning

A diesel particulate filter traps the soot in your exhaust and periodically burns it off in a process called regeneration. That process needs sustained running at temperature, which is exactly what short urban trips never provide, so filters block. Michanic cleans diesel particulate filters at your home or office and, just as importantly, establishes why yours blocked, because a DPF that fills again within weeks has a fault behind it.

Why Choose Our Mobile DPF Cleaning Services?

  1. Cheaper Than Replacement:
A blocked filter does not automatically mean a new one. Cleaning restores a filter that is loaded with soot and ash but structurally sound.
  2. The Cause Is Investigated:
Filters block because of short trips, a faulty differential pressure sensor, a leaking injector, EGR problems or interrupted regenerations. Cleaning without finding that is temporary.
  3. Forced Regeneration Where Suitable:
Some filters need a commanded regeneration rather than a clean. We establish which applies rather than defaulting to the more expensive option.
  4. Done At Your Location:
A vehicle in limp mode is exactly what you do not want to drive across town to a workshop.

Why We are the Best Choice for Mobile DPF Cleaning

  • Measured, Not Guessed:
Differential pressure and soot load readings are taken so the filter condition is known rather than assumed from a warning light.
  • Honest About Limits:
A filter cracked, melted or saturated with ash cannot be cleaned back to health. We say so rather than taking payment for a process that will not work.
  • Driving Advice That Helps:
If short trips caused it, you get practical guidance on what allows a regeneration to complete, which prevents a repeat.
  • We Come To You:
Home or office, with the diagnostic equipment brought to the vehicle.

A blocked particulate filter is not only an emissions problem. As it fills, exhaust back pressure rises, which costs power and economy and puts the turbocharger under strain. The engine management responds by attempting repeated regenerations, and each failed attempt injects extra fuel, some of which washes past the piston rings into the sump. That dilutes the engine oil with diesel, and oil thinned with fuel no longer protects the bearings or the turbo. A neglected DPF can therefore end in engine damage rather than just a warning light.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What causes a DPF to block?
Mostly short journeys where the exhaust never reaches the temperature needed for regeneration. Faults contribute too: a failed differential pressure sensor, leaking injectors, EGR problems, low quality fuel, or regenerations repeatedly interrupted by switching the engine off.
  • Can a blocked DPF be cleaned or does it need replacing?
A filter loaded with soot and ash but structurally sound can usually be cleaned or regenerated successfully. One that is cracked, melted or saturated with ash after very high mileage needs replacing, and that is determined by measurement rather than guesswork.
  • What is a DPF regeneration?
It is the process where the engine management raises exhaust temperature to burn accumulated soot into a small amount of ash. Passive regeneration happens during sustained higher speed driving; active regeneration is commanded by the engine management and needs the journey to continue long enough to finish.
  • Why is my oil level rising on a diesel?
Repeated failed regenerations inject extra fuel into the exhaust stroke, and some of it passes the piston rings into the sump. The level rises because the oil is being diluted with diesel, which is serious and needs attention rather than simply draining some off.
  • Is it legal to remove a DPF?
No. Removing or gutting a particulate filter on a road going vehicle makes it unroadworthy and is an emissions offence. It also leaves the engine management operating on sensor readings that no longer reflect reality.
